To collect taxes on products sold on Outdoorly, you will need to work with our third-party partner, TaxCloud. TaxCloud is a free, easy-to-use sales tax management service for retailers. It can handle every aspect of sales tax, from collection to filing. It can be easily integrated into most accounting, order management, and shopping cart systems, including your Outdoorly store.
We use TaxCloud to automatically calculate sales tax for purchases. This ensures we are up to date with the constantly changing tax landscape and that sales tax is properly being collected in jurisdictions where your company has nexus.
TaxCloud is completely free to use, but be aware that by using TaxCloud’s free-tier, you will collect and remit sales tax in more jurisdictions than required. You can pay for selective compliance to ensure you are only collecting sales tax in jurisdictions in which you have nexus.
To get started, you will need a TaxCloud account. You can create one at taxcloud.com. Once you have created an account, you will need to connect TaxCloud to Outdoorly by providing a TaxCloud API ID and key. Refer to this article for more information.
Once you have connected your TaxCloud account, you are ready to collect sales tax on products. We are currently working on a way to apply tax status to all products. In the meantime, to charge taxes on a product you will need to enable tax collecting on each individual product. If you need a hand, let us know. We’ll be happy to help.
Go to an individual product Edit page by clicking on it from the All Products view of the Products Panel. In the Advanced details section, check the box Collect taxes on this product.

You will need to select a taxable category for the item. If the available categories do not apply, select General.
