It is important to properly categorize your products on Outdoorly. This keeps our marketplace organized and makes it easier for customers to find what they are looking for.
Like many outdoor marketplaces, we have two types of top-level categories: Activities and Clothes. Please follow these best-practices when categorizing your products:
Men's or Women's categories. If the product applies to particular activities, it should also be placed in the Clothing section of those activities.Men's→Jackets→Fleece, not Men's→Jackets). This ensures products will be visible at all category levels.Essentials under an Activity. If you can’t find a proper category for your product or you’d like to suggest that we add additional categories, please contact your Account Manager.
You can either categorize your products individually, or in bulk using a CSV. We understand that categorization can be time-consuming. If you need a hand, feel free to contact your Account Manager.
To categorize an individual product you will need to go to the product’s page from the All Products view of the Products Panel. Use the Organize section on the right hand side of the page.
You can use the dropdown to browse the available categories. When you find the category that best fits your product, add it by clicking the plus sign next to the name. You will know the category has been successfully added to the product when the category is highlighted red with a check mark.

Categorizing products in bulk can save time if you have many products in the same category. You can either do so when first uploading products via CSV using the Import Products feature, or afterwards by using the Update Products feature.
For either method, you will need to fill in the categories column of the product CSV file. We represent categories in CSV files using category paths. These are full descriptions of the category’s place in our hierarchy. You can view a list of all categories and get their category paths from the CSV Import page.

Click the View Categories link on this page.

You can explore this category list manually, or search using the top bar. When you have found a category you would like to use, click Copy Path. This ****will copy the category path that can be used in the CSV. For example, if you click Copy Path for Men’s Skis it will copy the path Snow→Alpine & Alpine Touring→Skis→ Mens.
You can paste the category path into the categories column of the CSV to categorize that product. If a product exists in two categories, you can use two category paths separated by a vertical bar, |. For example, if you wanted to list a Women’s Technical Climbing Shirt under Climb and Women's you would use the value Climb→Clothing→Women's | Women's→Shirts→Technical.
